Most art is typically made by an artist whenever they fell inspired or need money. Although it's certainly great for artists to get the satisfaction of fulfilling their inspiration by spontaniously creating their artwork, it would also be great to have the opportunity to give the artists of our choice at least some direction in what type of art or the style of that art, so we can feel that it was specially made just for us. It adds so much meaning to the art we proudly display in our home or business, when we can say with authority that is it in fact an original one of a kind piece of artwork that we commissioned our favorite artist to create for us.
This method of art production also is helpful to an artist because the artist already knows beforehand that his artwork is sold for a pre-established agreed upon price and he or she will be paid immediately upon completion of their work. It is frustrating for artists to continue to produce artwork which accumulates in their gallery because it was made only with the artist's ideas in mind instead of exactly that which a buyer is interested in purchasing to display in their home or business.
